Gia Lai is shaping a tourism ecosystem based on the principle of "one journey - two destinations".
(gialai.gov.vn) - On the morning of March 27th, at FLC Quy Nhon Beach & Golf Resort, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, in collaboration with FLC Group, the Vietnam Tourism Association, and the Vietnam Television Center for the Central and Central Highlands regions (VTV8), organized the seminar "Gia Lai 2026: Activating the Coastal-Highland Axis".
Attending the workshop, on behalf of Gia Lai province's leadership were: Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Huu Que - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
In addition, there were representatives from central ministries and agencies, diplomatic missions, tourism associations, airlines, domestic and international travel businesses, economic and tourism experts, strategic investors, and representatives from many localities nationwide.
Speaking at the workshop, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized: After the administrative boundary merger, Gia Lai entered a new phase of development with a rare "sea-highland" space that complements each other. This is an opportunity for the locality to restructure its growth model, with tourism identified as one of the important pillars.
According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, with its diverse ecosystem, unique natural landscapes, and rich cultural heritage of its ethnic groups, Gia Lai possesses all the necessary conditions to develop tourism into an important economic sector. Gia Lai is at a ripe moment for breakthrough, as the factors of resources, infrastructure, market, and investor confidence are gradually converging.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan delivered a speech at the workshop.
The "Gia Lai 2026: Activating the Coastal-Highland Axis" conference had three main discussion sessions. The first session, themed "Aviation Activating the Green Economy," focused on analyzing the role of aviation infrastructure in opening up the tourism market and attracting investment to new destinations.
The second session, themed "Preparing the Nest to Welcome Eagles - Real Estate Infrastructure Unlocking Potential in a New Growth Cycle," focused on discussing the role of strategic investors in forming a complete tourism ecosystem, including resorts, golf, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), services, and aviation.

The third session, themed “One Flight, Two Destinations – A Coastal Tourism Paradise Connecting with the Mysterious Highlands, Creating Thousands of Values,” focused on discussing new tourism trends for international visitors, particularly multi-experience itineraries combining beach resorts with exploration of nature and local culture.
The workshop focused on three major pillars in Gia Lai's tourism development strategy for the 2026-2035 period. Infrastructure and aviation were identified as key factors in “opening the market,” playing a crucial role in activating tourist and investment flows.
Notably, Gia Lai currently boasts two airports, Phu Cat and Pleiku, which are being developed as complementary hubs, forming an efficient connection system between the coast and the highlands.

In addition, delegates also focused on analyzing solutions to attract strategic investors and develop a comprehensive tourism ecosystem including resorts, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), services, and aviation; while simultaneously building inter-regional tourism products following the "multi-experience" trend, combining beach resorts with cultural and ecological exploration of the highlands to extend the length of stay and increase the spending value of tourists.
Concluding the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Que affirmed: The event is not only an important activity within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2026, but also contributes to reorienting the province's tourism development space in the long term.
Emphasizing the strategic vision, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated that Gia Lai does not position itself as a single destination, but as a complete journey. It's a sea-highland journey, where tourists can experience a seaside resort in Quy Nhon, then continue their exploration of the Pleiku plateau with its unique ecological landscape and distinctive cultural identity. Two destinations – two distinct identities – one unified journey will create a unique appeal for Gia Lai tourism.
According to provincial leaders, to realize this direction, Gia Lai will focus on attracting strategic investors, upgrading infrastructure, developing high-quality tourism products; and at the same time, significantly improving the investment environment, enhancing the quality of human resources and services.
