On behalf of the People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for your interest in the Provincial Electronic Information Portal.
Gia Lai Province covers a natural area of more than 21,576 km², ranking second largest in the country, with a population of over 3.5 million people. Gia Lai is the crystallization of two lands: Binh Dinh – a land of dynamism, determination, innovation, and creativity in the sunny and windy Central Coast, the birthplace of the cloth hero Quang Trung – Nguyen Hue, carrying within it a strong offensive spirit, constantly striving and breaking through; and Gia Lai – a land that stands out with its pristine natural beauty and rich traditional cultural identity of the Central Highlands’ ethnic groups, where the Se San River, the Ba River, vast forests, and endless coffee hills embody the resilience, solidarity, and determination to overcome challenges of its people.
Gia Lai possesses a rich ecosystem ranging from plateaus, grasslands, and majestic waterfalls flowing down to rice fields and reaching out to the sea, often likened to a “miniature Vietnam,” where culture, people, and nature harmoniously converge.
Situated at the heart of the Central Highlands – South Central Coast region, Gia Lai has vast potential and space for comprehensive development, complementing each other between the sea and the plateau, and linking agriculture, industry, trade, services, and tourism. The province has abundant human resources and an industrial foundation, with many industrial parks in the East, large agricultural production areas in the West, and diverse trade and service development. Notably, Gia Lai boasts a relatively complete infrastructure system, connected by the North–South vertical axis and the East–West horizontal axis. Its transport network integrates seaports, airports, national highways, expressways, and railways within the same administrative unit, creating favorable conditions for regional economic development planning and synchronized urbanization from the coastal plain to the highlands.
With a solid scientific foundation, a strong aspiration for innovation, and distinctive development policies, Gia Lai Province is emerging as a new star on Vietnam’s map of artificial intelligence and the semiconductor industry – a place where knowledge, technology, and people converge to build a regional innovation ecosystem. This provides a firm foundation for Gia Lai to become a new growth pole in the South Central Coast – Central Highlands region.
On its new development journey, Gia Lai Province has identified five pillars of growth:
1. Developing a strong processing and manufacturing industry to become the backbone of the economy, based on advantages in labor, agriculture, and the exploitation of coastal economic zones and industrial zones along National Highway 19 from Quy Nhon to An Khe, Pleiku, and Le Thanh; creating breakthroughs in renewable energy and green industry development; building a regional renewable energy hub; supporting green transition; and developing the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries in association with the establishment of a regional innovation center.
2. Transforming tourism into a spearhead economic sector by leveraging marine advantages, ecological forests and mountains, and the cultural heritages of the Central Highlands and Cham civilization; while promoting community-based tourism.
3. Developing high-tech agriculture and sustainable forestry based on the province’s advantages of basalt soil, plains, low mountains, and convenient transport networks, to establish large specialized farming zones (coffee, pepper, fruits, medicinal herbs, livestock, etc.); developing high-tech aquaculture from its marine resources; establishing “agro-industrial strongholds”; and building concentrated raw-material areas to enhance the value chains of the province’s key products.
4. Expanding port and logistics services, including seaports, railway stations, airports, and inland ports along National Highway 19, the Quy Nhon – Pleiku Expressway, and the North–South Expressway, thereby forming logistics hubs from Le Thanh Border Gate to Quy Nhon Port.
5. Developing rapid and sustainable urbanization in parallel with the development of industrial real estate, urban real estate, tourism real estate, and service infrastructure, so that the urban economy becomes an important contributor to the province’s economic growth.
At the same time, Gia Lai focuses on three breakthrough areas:
1. Institutional reform and governance, by concretizing and creatively applying the four breakthrough Resolutions of the Politburo as a legal foundation and driving force for Gia Lai’s development in the new era; building a streamlined and effective two-tier local government system with a professional civil service; developing digital government; fostering an innovation ecosystem; and ensuring a transparent, safe legal environment for investment and business activities, thereby improving local competitiveness.
2. Developing high-quality human resources to serve economic restructuring towards industry, high-tech agriculture, digital transformation, and green transition, while upgrading the capacity of officials and civil servants at all levels to meet the requirements of the new era.
3. Creating breakthroughs in infrastructure development, including transport, irrigation, port–logistics, industrial–commercial–service infrastructure, and digital infrastructure. Priority is given to transport networks connecting the highlands – midlands – plains – coastal areas, as well as irrigation systems (reservoirs, dams, canals) to ensure sufficient water for key farming areas.
Along with economic development, Gia Lai Province is committed to fully and promptly implementing social welfare policies, ensuring that no one is left behind. The province continues to prioritize resources for social infrastructure, especially healthcare and education, to guarantee and enhance equal access to essential social services for all people. At the same time, it effectively implements programs and plans to preserve landscapes and protect the environment, ensuring that Gia Lai remains a peaceful, clean, and civilized land.
As the second-largest province in Vietnam, with diverse terrain and both land and maritime borders, Gia Lai attaches great importance to strengthening national defense and security, building a strong posture of all-people defense and people’s security. The province remains vigilant and proactive, ensuring peace and safety for its homeland under all circumstances.
Gia Lai Province is determined to turn challenges into motivation, pressure into action, and the Party’s sound policies into concrete and practical outcomes; to maximize new potentials and advantages while preserving and promoting the province’s fine traditional values; and to unite, innovate, and overcome difficulties and challenges, so that Gia Lai will become not only a large province in size but also a strong one in competitiveness, capable of deeper integration into national and global value chains, together with the whole country entering a new era of prosperous development.
The People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province pledges to take action, guided by the principle: “Exemplary – Discipline – Focus – Breakthrough”, consistently applied throughout governance and administration; with the motto “taking the people and enterprises as customers to be served.”
In this process, the Gia Lai Provincial Electronic Information Portal will serve as a transparent, timely, and official channel of communication between the provincial government, the people, enterprises, and investors. We look forward to receiving your wholehearted and responsible contributions and reaffirm our commitment to accompanying you towards shared prosperity.
Respectfully,
Chairman of the People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province
