Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phạm Anh Tuấn Holds Working Sessions with the Korea-Vietnam Economic and Cultural Association (KOVECA) and Jeju Semiconductor in the Republic of Korea

Joining the working delegation were Comrade Nguyễn Thị Phong Vũ – Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization – along with leaders of several provincial departments, sectors, and enterprises.

The delegation was received by Mr. Kwon Sung-Taek – Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Economic and Cultural Association (KOVECA).

Overview of the working session

KOVECA plays a pivotal role in promoting economic, investment, trade, tourism, cultural cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea. The association brings together a wide range of businesses, organizations, and experts operating in fields such as finance, investment, real estate, tourism, aviation, media, technology, energy, healthcare, education, high-tech agriculture, and cultural industries.

During the meeting, Chairman Phạm Anh Tuấn highly appreciated KOVECA's contributions to connecting and supporting Korean enterprises in exploring the investment environment in Vietnam, as well as assisting Vietnamese businesses in accessing the Korean market. He noted that Gia Lai is entering a new phase of development with considerable potential and wide-open opportunities for both domestic and foreign investors.

According to the Chairman, Gia Lai is currently the second-largest province in Vietnam in terms of area, possessing a vast development space stretching from the coastal area to the Central Highlands. This unique geographical diversity, combining marine and forest ecosystems, offers special advantages for the development of multiple economic sectors, particularly tourism, high-tech agriculture, processing industries, and renewable energy.

In recent years, Gia Lai Province has focused on improving its investment and business environment, accelerating administrative reforms, and issuing a number of open and transparent policies and mechanisms to attract domestic and foreign investors. Currently, seven Korean enterprises are implementing projects in the province across various fields, including processing and manufacturing, support industries, food processing, animal feed production, trade, services, culture, and tourism.

The Chairman expressed his hope that KOVECA would continue to serve as an effective bridge to introduce and connect its member enterprises to explore the investment environment and study cooperation opportunities in Gia Lai, especially in priority sectors such as high-end resort tourism, coastal tourism, golf tourism, cultural industries, renewable energy, processing industries, logistics, high-tech agriculture, commercial infrastructure, and services.

Appreciating the potential and development advantages of Gia Lai, Mr. Kwon Sung-Taek stated that many of the sectors the province is targeting for investment attraction are precisely those in which KOVECA's member enterprises have been effectively operating in Vietnam. With a favorable investment environment, open policies, and the strong commitment of the local government, Gia Lai is considered a highly promising destination for Korean investors.

Mr. Kwon Sung-Taek affirmed that in the coming time, KOVECA will actively connect and introduce its member enterprises to survey, study the market, and seek investment cooperation opportunities in Gia Lai in its key sectors such as tourism, processing industries, high-tech agriculture, commercial infrastructure, and services.

Also on the same afternoon, Chairman Phạm Anh Tuấn held a working session with the leadership of Jeju Semiconductor Company – a leading high-technology enterprise in the Republic of Korea operating in the design, research, and development of semiconductor products, Internet of Things (IoT), electronics, and high-tech applications.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation potential and the possibility of studying investment in high-tech projects in Gia Lai. Jeju Semiconductor expressed interest in the province's orientation for developing high-tech industries, while also learning about the investment environment, infrastructure, and support policies available for technology enterprises.

Key areas of cooperation discussed included: research and investment in the electronics and semiconductor industry; establishment of research and development (R&D) centers; development of data centers and artificial intelligence (AI); training of high-tech human resources; digital transformation; development of digital infrastructure; and high-tech support industries.

Chairman Phạm Anh Tuấn emphasized that Gia Lai is strongly oriented towards developing science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, viewing these as critical drivers to enhance competitiveness and promote sustainable growth. The province is committed to providing the most favorable conditions for strategic investors, particularly those operating in high-tech sectors, semiconductor industry, digital data, and artificial intelligence.
