At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang stated that Vietnam will host APEC Year 2027 with numerous activities, including the APEC High-Level Week held in Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone (An Giang province). In addition, several ministerial-level conferences and specialized workshops will be held in other localities.

The APEC 2027 Secretariat is responsible for conducting on-site surveys in several localities, including Gia Lai province, to compile a report for the National APEC 2027 Committee to consider and decide on the organization of the aforementioned activities during APEC Year 2027.

Preliminary assessments indicate that Gia Lai is a province with dynamic economic development and an increasingly improved investment environment, attracting many domestic and foreign corporations and businesses. Infrastructure, especially transportation, tourism, and services, is receiving significant investment towards a synchronized and modern approach.

Notably, in the context of hosting the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, the province has proactively developed tourism products linked to its unique cultural identity, contributing to enhancing the destination's image and attracting domestic and international tourists. This is considered a favorable foundation for Gia Lai to gradually participate in serving large-scale multilateral diplomatic activities such as APEC.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang highly appreciated Gia Lai province's determination in preparing for participation in the APEC 2027 Year and stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to accompany and support the locality in its preparations, especially in foreign affairs, protocol, and international connectivity. At the same time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang requested the province to continue reviewing and improving the infrastructure, logistics, and capacity to serve the organization of conferences and seminars in the locality.

Also at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang outlined future economic diplomacy activities such as: strengthening coordination and information exchange between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the locality; concretizing new and important policies of the Party and State, including promoting economic diplomacy; and actively supporting localities and businesses in international economic integration…

Introducing an overview of Gia Lai province after the merger, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich stated that Gia Lai province has vast land area; a rich agricultural ecosystem, energy resources, and especially the ability to connect directly to the sea, linked to the port system, logistics, and international trade.

In recent years, Gia Lai province has achieved many positive results in socio-economic development, maintaining stable growth, and gradually improving the investment environment. Along with directing and promoting growth in various sectors, Gia Lai province is also focusing on completing its infrastructure system, especially transportation infrastructure, with the spirit of "transportation leading the way."

To gradually become a relatively developed province in the country, Gia Lai province focuses on five pillars of growth, with tourism development becoming a key economic sector, based on its advantages of the sea, mountainous and forest ecosystems, and the cultural heritage of the Central Highlands - Champa.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich affirmed that Gia Lai province is ready to meet the necessary conditions and wishes to host conferences and seminars, contributing to the success of APEC Year 2027 and, through that, promoting local tourism and providing impressive experiences for delegates and international tourists.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pay attention and direct relevant units to support the province in promoting its tourism; and to assist in inviting diplomatic missions and foreign organizations to attend the opening events of the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, taking place from March 27-30, 2026.

Regarding economic diplomacy, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich stated that in recent times, economic diplomacy serving socio-economic development in the province has achieved some outstanding results. Through receptions for ambassadors and consuls general of various countries, the province has strengthened the promotion of its potential, strengths, and development orientation; through delegations to promote investment, trade, and tourism, it has fostered friendly cooperative relations with Japan, South Korea, France, Laos, Cambodia, and other countries. In addition, the province has consistently focused on attracting external resources and providing timely support to foreign investors, contributing to creating a favorable investment environment and promoting socio-economic development. Furthermore, the province continues to support and facilitate businesses in the province to connect with and expand their markets abroad.

In the coming period, the province will focus on comprehensively promoting international integration, with economic diplomacy as the central element serving development. Strengthen, expand, and enhance the effectiveness of international cooperation at the local level, prioritizing traditional cooperative relations and friendly neighborly ties with the provinces of Southern Laos and Northeastern Cambodia, and expanding relations with other potential foreign localities and partners; effectively implement the Party Central Committee's Directive and the Provincial People's Committee's guidance on economic diplomacy.

Immediately after the working session, the delegation surveyed the facilities at several suitable locations for organizing conferences and seminars within the framework of APEC 2027, as recommended by the province.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) 2027, with the theme “Connecting, Building Inclusive and Resilient Economies,” is an important event, marking Vietnam's role in the region and providing an opportunity to promote the country's image and position on the international stage.
