A Flourishing New Spring - Gia Lai’s Integration and Development
Potential and advantages of the new Gia Lai province
Amid the vibrant atmosphere of the new spring season, following the merger of Binh Dinh Province and Gia Lai Province, the new Gia Lai Province has officially been formed, presenting a brighter and more dynamic profile than ever before. This event not only marks an important administrative and territorial transformation, but also opens a new phase of development and international integration.

The new Gia Lai Province spans a broad geographical area stretching from the South Central Coast to the Central Highlands, creating favorable conditions to harness the agricultural and industrial strengths of the highland region while promoting the development of services, logistics, and coastal and island tourism. Enhanced connectivity between mountainous and coastal areas through transportation and logistics systems - particularly in line with the East-West Economic Corridor orientation - will facilitate the linkage of production, processing, and transportation of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, thereby expanding both domestic and international trade. This geographical diversity also provides strong potential for tourism development, encompassing ecotourism, marine tourism, cultural tourism, and resort tourism, through the harmonious combination of Central Highlands cultural identity and coastal culture. In addition, the province benefits from an abundant labor force, enriched by the distinctive skills and experience of both regions, ranging from traditional farming and fishing to handicrafts and tourism. These advantages form a solid foundation for the province to further develop industry, services, processing industries, and the marine economy, in line with the trend of multi-sector and multi-field development in the new phase of integration.
Advances in international integration and cooperation
In 2025, Gia Lai Province welcomed and facilitated 248 working delegations, with more than 6,194 visits by international visitors from various countries around the world. These delegations came to work, study, receive training, attend conferences and seminars, conduct surveys, explore investment opportunities, and pay courtesy visits to the province. These activities not only enhanced exchanges of experience and professional expertise but also expanded the province’s network of international relations, laying an important foundation for long-term, multi-sector cooperation.
At the same time, the province successfully organized a range of international investment and trade promotion events, including the 6th National Innovation Startup Forum, the 2nd Cultural and Culinary Festival in 2025, the 2025 Quy Nhon International Outdoor Lifestyle Fair, the 2025 Gia Lai Province Investment and Trade Promotion Conference, and the Investment Promotion Workshop for Thai Enterprises, among others. These events created opportunities for direct engagement between domestic and international investors and businesses, while enhancing the province’s reputation and image on the international stage, expanding export markets, and promoting the development of services and tourism. Through these efforts, the province has fostered a dynamic and attractive business environment, encouraged innovation and creativity, and strengthened long-term strategic cooperation with international partners, thereby contributing to the enhancement of local economic capacity.
The province regularly exchanges information and maintains, consolidates, and enhances traditional friendly cooperative relations with the foreign localities that have signed cooperation agreements, including the provinces in southern Laos (Attapeu, Champasak, Salavan, and Sekong), northeastern Cambodia (Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, and Preah Vihear), as well as localities in Japan (Izumisano City, Ashikaga City, and Yoshino Town) and Yongsan District of the Republic of Korea. In addition, the province proactively provides information on its potential, strengths, socio-economic conditions, and investment, trade, and tourism opportunities to foreign representative offices in Viet Nam and Vietnamese representative missions abroad. At the same time, it actively seeks to expand cooperation with new markets and partners, including Thailand, India, and the United States, thereby broadening cooperative relations, attracting additional investment resources, and promoting breakthroughs in trade and tourism
Orientation for international integration in the coming period
To further strengthen the position and role of Gia Lai Province in consolidating and expanding international integration, in the coming period the province will focus on several key orientations. These include the effective implementation of Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2025 of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation, and Directive No. 15-CT/TW dated August 10, 2022 of the Secretariat on economic diplomacy in service of national development through 2030. International integration is identified as one of the key drivers for rapid and sustainable development. Accordingly, the province will proactively position itself within national, regional, and global value chains, while promoting the development of connectivity infrastructure, cross-border logistics services, international tourism, and border-area trade. The province will continue to expand external relations and actively participate in international programs and projects in prioritized strength areas; enhance the attraction of investment and technology transfer; and improve its capacity to effectively implement new-generation free trade agreements, international commitments, and cooperation agreements, thereby increasing its participation in global value chains. At the same time, Gia Lai Province will maintain and promote traditional friendly cooperative relations with long-standing partners, particularly the special relationship of friendship and solidarity with provinces in southern Laos and northeastern Cambodia, closely associated with maintaining border stability. In addition, the province will further consolidate and expand relations with localities and partners in European countries and the Asia–Pacific region; strengthen coordination between media channels and the province’s external affairs agencies; closely integrate Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy; and expand cooperation with partners suited to the province’s needs and conditions, with a view to mobilizing external resources for development.
With its vast area, sizable population, diverse geographical features, and strong potential in agriculture, industry, and tourism, the new Gia Lai Province is well positioned to seize opportunities for development and to deepen its integration into the international community. This first spring of the new Gia Lai Province marks a promising phase of transformation for a land rich in potential and aspirations for sustainable growth.
