Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee holds meeting with the Public Sector Investment Facility
On the morning of October 10, 2025, at the headquarters of Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, Chairman Pham Anh Tuan met with a delegation from the Embassy of Finland in Viet Nam and the Finnish Public Sector Investment Facility, led by Ambassador Pekka Voutilainen, to discuss the implementation of the Pleiku Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Project. The meeting was also attended by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Que, along with leaders of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Construction, Finance, Agriculture and Environment; the Construction Investment Project Management Board; and the Office of the Provincial People’s Committee.

At the meeting, Ambassador Pekka Voutilainen expressed his pleasure at visiting Gia Lai Province for the first time and thanked the provincial authorities for their warm reception. He noted several achievements in investment cooperation between Finland and Viet Nam in general, and between Finnish partners and Gia Lai Province in particular, in recent years. Regarding the Pleiku Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Project (Phase I), the Ambassador pointed out that the project was facing certain difficulties and required further support to accelerate its implementation, and expressed his hope that the Finnish Government would continue to cooperate with Gia Lai Province in improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life of local residents.

Chairman Pham Anh Tuan noted that, throughout its development process, Gia Lai Province has attached great importance to environmental protection, particularly the construction of wastewater and solid waste treatment facilities using modern technologies to effectively address environmental issues. He added that the province would instruct relevant departments to review available resources and allocate appropriate funding for the construction of branch pipelines to collect wastewater from households and businesses, connecting them to the Project’s main pipeline, and to urgently address existing difficulties and obstacles in order to ensure the Project’s progress.
According to information provided, the Project has a total investment of nearly VND 1,094 billion (approximately EUR 41.262 million). Of this amount, ODA funding from the Finnish Government accounts for EUR 23.208 million (equivalent to more than VND 615 billion), while the remainder is counterpart funding from the local government. The Project is scheduled for implementation during the 2023-2026 period.
